maybe they were, maybe they rode horses around their respective Barnaslingans and CarrickGollagans, until one fateful August day in a torrential downpour, their eyes met acrosss the field, Barney saw Cattys lacy frock clinging to her moist heaving bosom, Catty saw something resembling the Leadmines Tower in Barney's pantaloons, she was young and innocent but she was aware of the Power of the Tower, and this both terrified and excited her.
I can't post the details of what transpired next until all the under-18s sign-off this forum, but suffice to say they fell madly in love, and promised until death do they part, that they'd provide the forests and rocks and drops and hills for people from the future to build deadly XC/DH/FR trails on their lands and keep the memory of their love alive forever......
I'm sure I saw a ghouly image of them holding hands, and giving me the thumbs-up as I spun down the rooty loose turns and root-sections of the berm-track - a great piece of work.
Later, I swore they were giving me the "like, gnarly dude" dual finger gesture like you'd see lads giving Black Sabbath and Dio back in the day, on the way down the new DH track that those industrious young lads have built just recently - some really nice work.
Then coming off Cattys after a charge around the club course,
I'm convinced I saw their naked ghastly forms knocking lumps out of each other in furious bouts of whatever-they-used-to-call-it-in-the-olden-days
yeah, RIP Catty Gallagher and Barney Slingan - yiz are legends...

Any reference or resemblance of characters in this story to any persons living or dead is purely coincidental and unintended...
